After working up an appetite catching fish, it was time for a shore lunch at the "Big Marsh Raw Bar."  I was more than happy to shuck oysters on the half shell for Dr. John Simmons and his brother Bill.  It just "don't" get fresher than that!

(If you would like to have such a Lowcountry treat, during oyster season, just let me know prior to your trip.)

Despite all the headaches of the abnormally high tides over the last few months; the fishing remains pretty darn good!

Despite the speckled seatrout's alias, "winter trout", they sure have been enjoying the Lowcountry's milder temps this winter.

September - 2013

September in the Lowcountry can be one of the best months to catch some of our largest trophy fish. The breeder reds are in and tarpon are aggressively feeding to pack on the calories for their journey back south.

A South Carolina tarpon can be very elusive; which makes it so very rewarding when brought to boat-side.

Elliott and Chappell giving Mom a thumbs-up on her first tarpon.

When the breeder reds move into the bay to spawn they can usually be caught in the depths of the shipping channel. The Georgetown locals began calling them channel-bass decades ago. It was tough to fit this 50" channel-bass in the camera frame.

August - 2013

Some folks consider August too hot to get out on the water. Some even say these are the "Dog Days" of summer! I agree; the fishing is hot. Check out some of these "Dogs" below.

The reds around here continue to be suckers for the Gulp flukes. Any color works great; as long as it is white.

6-17-13A.jpg

It's nothing for Major Higgins to drive down from Charlotte to whip up on our Lowcountry redfish. As always, thanks for making the haul.
